Group promotes 'dot-jobs' domain

A new top-level domain address is being offered to companies that want to use it for recruiting.

The Society for Human Resource Management is accepting applications for the "dot-jobs" domain and will let companies start using the address in August. The Alexandria-based association says it will screen applicants, and companies will be allowed to use their corporate name, as in "yourcompany.jobs."

"Now that the application process is open, it won't be long before companies will be able to advertise their vacant positions on their dot-jobs site," says Susan R. Meisinger, president and CEO of SHRM. "A company's dot-jobs site has the potential to create a more streamlined recruiting process for HR professionals and make it easier for prospective employees to find vacant jobs."

The SHRM represents human resource management professionals and has more than 200,000 members.
